Undeniable Fact: Truly Shocking!
Saturday, October 07, 2006
Perhaps the most misunderstood form of energy production is the hydroelectric dam. Many people assume erroneously that energy is harnessed through electromechanical means, such as turbines and generators. Nope! The key to hydroelectric power lies instead in the thriving population of electric eels in all hydroelectric reservoirs. That's why you're not allowed to swim in them. So why the turbines? To aerate the water so that the eels can survive.

Your facts are a bit lacking. As you should know, there are no electric eels on the US west coast. Electricity is produced here by harnessing the differencial created by the warm, dry air and cold moist water, that differencial creates a static electric generator. However, the turbines are used to aeriate the water, in order to magnify the differencial and increase the wattage output.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I love it.
haha i finally realized how stupid i was
John, speaks the truth! in my country we do not have dams, we just have a big fat guy on a bycilcle with gogs on the wheels and cats on the ground, it creates enough static elictricity to run a whole country! The maids occaisionally whip him with electric eels to restore his staticity!
haha good one edwards
You forgot to mention what creates the electricity in the first place. The eels are fed bits of aluminum foil which creates sparks as they masticate. Try it! Since eel skin is mostly made of rubber, the voltage is retained until the eel molts, releasing the electricity.
